A kiss, an embrace, a caress upon meeting.
Time and beauty are so fleeting…
There’s nothing better than a moment so fine.
There’s nothing better than drinking a great wine.

Bodegas Aldonia is formed by two brothers which are the 4th generation of a winemakers family with the aim of both, to follow this long tradition and elaborate wines adapted to the modern times.

Our wines are distinctly different from many Riojas as they show their own personality based on high altitude Grenache.  We think that in our area this is the variety that better conveys the “terroir”.

We bet on old vines grown already by our grandfather and other plots of very old Grenache (over 100 years) in height (some to over 850 meters), which we have incorporated over time. All our range of wines has more than 50% Grenache and some wine are up to 100%.  The productions are very scarce and are aged mostly in 500 liters barrels to respect the purity of the wine and avoid the masking of the wood.

We make three types of wines whose main difference resides in vineyard plots from where come theirs grapes. It’s not one better than another, they are simply different interpretations of different “terroirs”. Wines to enjoy the senses.

Aldonia 2005

A Modern classic

18 months aging in oak barrels
A timeless wine

Tasting notes: Cherry red colour. Intense and medium- complex nose, aromas of berries, plums and little cassis. Its stay in casks is showed in its smell because of its fine toastings, a little spiced, cacao, chocolate and a slight end of caramel and vanilla. Balsamic mineral bottom .In mouth it is pleasant, elegant, balance between degree and acidity and with a well integrated tannin so it is a perfect unit. Long and persistent final.
